Children's Performer

Ron Sowell is probably best known as the leader of the band on the internationally acclaimed Mountain Stage radio show. He is also a dynamic solo performer with a special gift for entertaining kids.

Whether singing, playing the guitar and harmonica, or spinning a tall tale, Ron likes to have fun. His performances always include lots of audience participation. Sing-a-longs, dancing, clapping and audience "volunteers" are regular events.

Ron draws from many musical styles and punctuates each show with a few of his own original tunes. He has performed for thousands of kids all over West Virginia as an "artist in residence", teaches singing at the Mountaineer Montessori School in Charleston, and has worked with the Appalachian Children's Choir the last several years.
